December 27th, 2012 — Wine Racks
Chances are you’re heading off to all sorts of parties this time of year. Whether it’s a belated Christmas gathering or the upcoming New Years Eve, we’ve all got somewhere to go and celebrate with friends and family. Whenever I’m asked to bring something to a holiday party, I like to bring the wine. It’s much easier than cooking or baking, and a no-fail way to impress people. Being the wine supplier at a holiday event gives you the opportunity to express your personality through the wine. You can choose bottles that reflect your personality, whether you’re bold or subtle! Just have a nice assortment with wide variety so everyone can enjoy.
This brings to me our highlighted product for the week. The Wooden Wine Box by Quickway Imports is a true beauty. It kind of looks like an old steamer trunk and has that “old world” look that is perfect for winter entertaining. The wine tote can fit six bottles at a time, so there’s no doubt it will hold all the spirits you’re bringing to the party. There is a handle of easy carrying and straps plus a latch to keep everything secure. Another thing that excites me about this wine carrier is that you could use it as a gift box. Lots of people (myself included) are delighted to receive wine as a gift. In fact, I always requested it when asked what I want for my birthday or Christmas. With the wooden wine box, you can give someone their wine gift AND have a stylish way to wrap it up!
Remember, a good wine carrier should always be sturdy, easy to carry and reflect your personality (just like the wine does). Happy winter, folks!
December 7th, 2012 — Wine Racks
I love wine. I drink it almost every day. A glass of wine is all I need to unwind from a hectic day. One of my other favorite things is quotes. While I was reorganizing my wine rack today, I got the idea to look up some quotes on wine and share them with my fellow winos out there. Enjoy!
“Close friends contribute to our personal growth. They also contribute to our personal pleasure, making the music sound sweeter, the wine taste richer, the laughter ring louder because they are there.” – Judith Viorist. I love this. The way she ties in wine with all the best things in life makes so much sense to me.
“Age appears to be best in four things; old wood best to burn, old wine to drink, old friends to trust, and old authors to read.” – Francis Bacon. This quote makes me wish for a rainy day when I can curl up with a glass of wine and re-read a favorite book.
“Men are like wine – some turn to vinegar, but the best improve with age.” – Pope John XXIII. This of course makes me think of my husband.
“O thou invisible spirit of wine, if thou hast no name to be known by, let us call thee devil.” – William Shakespeare. Ha! I can’t say I share Shakespeare’s sentiment, but I definitely know what’s saying.
“It is time to get drunk! So as not to be the martyred slaves of Time, get drunk; get drunk without stopping! On wine, on poetry, or on virtue, as you wish.” – Charles Baudelaire. Sometimes drunk isn’t a bad thing afterall!
Last but not least, my favorite wine quote: “I cook with wine, sometimes I even add it to the food.” – W.C. Fields
I hope you enjoyed reading my favorite wine quotes, friends. I would love to hears yours as well! Be merry!
December 5th, 2012 — DIY Wine Racks, Wine Racks
I love anything Do-It-Yourself. I try to make as many things as I can, rather than buying them. It’s not just to save money, but I find it fun to get creative and have unique things around my house. I recently became a wine enthusiast and my need for clever wine storage is growing pretty fast! So obviously, I’ve been researching wine racks you can make from other materials. And here are my top five:
A wine rack made from empty soup cans, cleaned and painted to your liking:
A wine rack made from metal pegs in a wall:
A wine storage rack made by cutting holes into a piece of wood mounted to the wall:
A living wine rack – so cool!
A coffee table turned wine storage rack:
Something like this Bay Shore Coffee Table with Glass Insert by Lion Sports might work:
Proper wine storage is a very important thing. Those who take wine seriously understand about how and where to best store bottles so that they’re preserved well for the future. But a wine rack must also suit your personal lifestyle. What works for one person may not for another! So go with what you know about proper wine storage and make sure it is also reflective of yourself.
